«Following the transport enquiry and the initial meeting, a decision was made within minutes: We decided that we wanted to help out,» explains Franz Meienhofer, Head of Projects & Sales at CT. «We belive it is important for us to make a contribution. With our resources, we can do this the best by helping to optimise the supply chain of food-care.»
The meeting point is always the same: The food-care warehouse in Waldkirch at seven o’clock on Saturday morning. The Cityliner arrives and is ready to be loaded up with previously-prepared pallets and trolleys bursting with crates of vegetables, fruit, bread, rice, pasta, sweets – the list is long. It all has one thing in common: It’s food that has past its sell-by date and would otherwise have been thrown away, although it is still edible. After a good hour and a half, the truck is fully loaded and every centimetre of space has been used up. The journey then starts: To the «Essen für Alle» (food for all) charity in Leimbach, Zurich.
Markus Hofmann is behind food-care and is pleased about the partnership with CT. «I’m very happy with how things are going. Everything is perfectly organised and the truck drivers are very helpful and friendly. It’s simply going great!» Markus is the founder and director of food-care. He has been working in the food distribution project for almost eighteen years and is dedicated to supporting people who need help the most with all his energy.
The cooperation between the road haulage firm and the aid organisation is a «perfect match». Shared logistics for a good cause.
